Greenhouse Fun

Every year around this time I get the itch for green.

The itch for spring.

My grocery cart is loaded with foods that remind me of warmer weather – fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

Am I alone?

The kiddos are feeling it, too.  A trip to the farmer’s market in the summer months brings them great pleasure.

And so, while we daydream of sun warmed tomatoes and grilled sweet corn fresh from the farm, we decided to start some seedlings.  Touched off by something I came across on Pinterest on how to reuse un-recyclables, we made a greenhouse using a plastic chicken dome.

I started by making several little drainage holes in the bottom of the dome.  Then we filled the dome with some soil and planted our little seeds.

I do not generally have luck with seed starting. :/  Only time will tell if the greenhouse method will prove successful and we will be harvesting our own delicious tomatoes this summer!!

Cheers!
