Life has been incredibly busy...
But in the midst of the chaos, the garden continues to grow.
We harvested the first of the broccoli and new shoots are already popping up. Broccoli from the garden is so good. So good. When steamed, it practically melts in your mouth. No salt, pepper, or butter needed - this stuff tastes like summer in the pretty green package.
Corn is waist high and we have high hopes for a plentiful harvest.
And bush beans are coming in strong. Unfortunately, our pole beans have fallen victim to the deer. Those same deer actually tore through the fencing...so now we have a little bit of a bunny problem, too!
I have spent the entire weekend in the throws of preserving kale and chard. I have frozen fresh and frozen blanched...time will tell which method I prefer to use for next year. One thing that I have learned, though, is that in the future I will plant roughly three plants each of these tasty greens!
Cheers!
