I was a green smoothie skeptic.
How could something that looked so disgusting taste even moderately palatable? After some encouragement and lots and lots of research, I decided to give it a whirl.
My first smoothie consisted of a banana, a mango, half of a pear, an orange, three tablespoons of (unground) flax seeds, and about two cups of kale. I added some ice to get it cold and about 1/2 cup of water to thin it out. Eli and I watched in amazement as the smoothie came together and turned bright green in the blender. It was a little chunky, but actually smelled quite yummy. Skeptically, I took my first drink....
YUM!

What a surprise. Lucy obviously has no problems with green foods, as she was begging to try some. She loved it, even with the thick texture! Score! What a great way to get more nutrient dense foods into her! Alex tolerates them. Which is really quite amazing since he is a self-proclaimed anti-health nut. Eli...well, no. Not even close. His response, "that looks risgusting". We can't win them all, right? At least he helps me make them. : )
