25 Days of Christmas

We are enjoying the countdown to Christmas with special activities for each day of December.  I did not get around to completing the knit Advent calendar I had started, so I made a simple construction paper garland and tucked riddles for activities inside.
Candy Cane, our super sneaky Scout Elf is helping where she can by often hiding with the gift bag holding the contents for the day’s activity.
Candy Cane is super tricky. : )

Some of the activities we have done so far have been craft projects like gluing cotton onto Santa’s bare face and cutting out fabulous snowflakes to decorate the house.  We have also made up some Magic Reindeer food to sprinkle out on the snow on Christmas Eve, shopped for toys and food to donate to the less fortunate, hunted for ice crystals outside, and went ice skating as a family.
Santa's Beard.

Magic Reindeer Food:  Granola, Crushed Candy Canes, and Silver Glitter.

Yes!  That is Alex out on hockey skates!!!

Lucy felt terribly left out that we did not let her out on the ice.

Lucy found a treasure!

Ice Crystals.
Still left on our list are many fun activities that include visiting Santa at Macy’s, going to the Hollidazzle Parade, preparing some wholesome (and allergy friendly) treats to give to friends and neighbors, drive through Phalen Park and look at Christmas lights, and go caroling at an assisted living facility where I used to work.  I also included three special treasure hunts around the house for extra special activities like getting a new Christmas book to read, a Gingerbread House kit, and all the supplies for a night of Hanukkah fun!

Many of the ideas for Advent activities were found on various blogs with the help of Pinterest.  If you have not yet become acquainted with Pinterest, I highly recommend it. : )
Till later, Happy Holidays!!
