Community Garden Update: June 1st

We have had rain pretty much non-stop for weeks now.  The grass is out of control, soccer has been cancelled due to the field saturation, and our garden has been growing. J

Today we had a work party at the garden.  We moved a huge pile of wood chips and a huge pile of compost inside the garden gate and laid some of the irrigation hoses.  It was a lot of hard work, but we had great helpers. J

And this is what our little plot looks like this week:

Sprouting plants everywhere!!
Bush Beans

Lots of leafy greens!!!!
Kale and Spinach
Even some flowers on the heirloom tomato plants!!!!!!
Heirloom Tomatoes and Chard
Even though we are getting lots of rain, we spent a little time watering just to make sure they were getting enough!  Lucy loved watering the Marigolds.  They got more water than any other plant.  I think it is because they have pretty flowers! J
Best dressed award goes to Lucy!!!

Teamwork watering!!!
Cheers!!
